| The Detroit-Based band was formed almost a year ago and has been playing local clubs, Wayne State University and other schools and cultural institutions. The band plays compositions written, arranged and produced by leader Jay Burns. The music ranges from contemporary jazz to Latin Jazz to Afro-Cuban to reggae, with a rocking, soul beat that will make you move and groove.
Band name: Jaida Blue Jay and the Blue Jays
How they got their name: The name Blue Jay was given to the leader, Jay Burns, by his grandmother because he whistled like a blue jay.
Types of music: Contemporary Jazz, Latin Jazz, Afro -Cuban, Blues and Reggae.
